During the early days of his bodybuilding career, he competed against some greats in the bodybuilding industry including all-time great Arnold Schwarzenegger. His professional bodybuilding accomplishments include winning IFBB Mr. Universe in 1973 and 1974 ( Consecutive two years).

When he was of just 16 years he weighed 165 pounds and at his peak, Lou Ferrigno stood six feet five inches and weighed between 290-320 lbs on and off-seasons.

Lou started weight training when he was just 13 years old. Shortly after graduating in 1969 from high school, he won his first major title in a weightlifting competition (Mr. America).
